(L) Stan Wilson, Ruth Carter Johnson and Lee Randall at the Streams and Valleys Committee dedication event in 1971. Stan's daughter, Cathy, a student at Paschal High School, came up with the idea of raising money through a paper recycling effort to plant trees along the Trinity River. KFJZ spearheaded the drive and students from the Tarrant County schools participated. Their paper drives raised several thousand dollars to clean up and beautify the Trinity River areas through the planting of trees. Those trees still stand along the banks of the Trinity River, a testament to KFJZ's dedication to community pride and public service. KFJZ received many awards for this effort, including the commendation from the President, shown below.
